Compare Using In-house Cleaning Employees to Outside Contract Cleaning
Before any employee sits down at their desk, or any visitor goes into their meeting, people take in their surroundings when they come into your building. It could be their first visit or their one hundredth, they will notice the cleanliness (or lack of it). If they go into the restroom and it has a bad odor or visible dirt, that says something about your building. The President of a major airline once said “If we have coffee stains on our drop down tray tables, it tells our customers that we do poor engine maintenance”. It is very possible that your customers and your associates will get a poor impression of every aspect of your business if they see that you cannot provide a clean facility.
If you are using in-house employees to clean your facility, do they have the resources available to do a truly professional cleaning job? It is possible that you could end up spending less by using a Professional Janitorial Cleaning Company versus your own staff. It is easy to compare the cost per hour from an outside cleaning bid versus the wages you pay your own cleaners. But have you considered the following other costs?
- Payroll Taxes
- Vacation and Sick Pay
- Other Fringe Benefits
- Management and Training Expenses
- Equipment Costs
- Maintenance of Equipment Costs
- Cleaning Chemicals and Supply Costs
You should also ask yourself the following questions:
- Is the employee’s time who has the responsibility for managing the cleaning crew being distracted from more productive tasks?
- If your cleaning people have other responsibilities you should ask the same question about whether they could be doing more productive tasks.
- Who is responsible for keeping up on new and improved trends in the industry that could improve the cleaning productivity?
- Who is responsible for managing the Quality Control and how much time do they spend doing that?
Some companies have “always done it that way”, but maybe you should take a fresh look at a potentially better way. Please click on the link for more information or a quote. Why not take a look and compare? Click HERE to Contact us.
